The Magus Circle accessibility and controls
Quick answer
Confirmed: slow-time and freeze-time drawing, button-press mode, adjustable difficulty, save anytime. Unconfirmed but requested: keybind remapping for left-handed players and tablet API support.
A drawing-based survivors-like lives or dies on input options. The Magus Circle ships with more of them than most in the genre: slow/freeze-time drawing, a full button-press casting mode, four input devices, and Steam-side accommodations like Playable without Timed Input. This page compiles every confirmed option plus the gaps demo players actually asked for.

Input device matrix
| Device | Status | Setup notes |
|---|---|---|
| Mouse | Recommended default | Works with no configuration. |
| Drawing tablet | Officially supported | Disable Microsoft Ink if strokes don't register (official fix). Demo players with 14h on tablet call it the best experience. |

| Controller | Supported via button-press mode | Developer explicitly recommends pairing controller with the accessibility settings. |
What demo players asked for (not yet confirmed at launch)
From our 195-review sample and 12 discussion threads — treat as wishlists, not features:
- Keybind remapping for left-handed players. "As someone who is left handed, I'd like to be able to remap the keybinds" — pen in left hand, movement on arrow keys, ability keys unreachable (6.2h player).
- Drawing tablet API support. Discussion thread: "Needs to be much less particular about shapes" and "Any accessibility options for rune drawing?" — both open questions before launch.
- Fatigue management. One player found repeated drawing "mentally fatiguing" after long sessions — the slow/freeze options are the official answer; whether they exist per-spell is unconfirmed.
- Keyboard-only menus. A critical review reports several menus ignore keyboard input entirely.
Recommended setups
- Desktop + mouse: default; enable slow-time drawing if the late waves overwhelm you.
- Drawing tablet: disable Microsoft Ink first, then calibrate; keep strokes upright.
- Controller: switch to button-press mode (developer recommendation) and leave freeze-time off unless needed.
- Long sessions: alternate spell shapes to reduce repetitive strain; use Save Anytime to break.
